چکیده

The paper presents a modelling framework for activity scheduling process. The modelling framework considers Random utility maximization (RUM) assumption for its components in order to dynamically capture the joint activity type, location and continuous time expenditure choice tradeoffs over the course of the day. The dynamics of activity scheduling process are modeled by considering the history of activity participation as well as changes in time budget availability over the day. For empirical application, the model is estimated for weekend activity scheduling using a dataset (CHASE) collected in Toronto in 2002-2003. The data set classifies activities into nine general categories. For the empirical model of a 24-hour weekend activity scheduling only activity type and time expenditure choice are considered. The estimated empirical model explains many behavioral details and gives a high degree of fit to the observed weekend scheduling patterns. Some examples of such findings are the effects of the time of day on choosing an activity to schedule and on the corresponding time expenditure; the effects of travel time requirements on the utility of scheduling specific activities and on the corresponding time expenditure, etc. Among many other findings, the empirical model captures the fact that on the weekend the utility of scheduling Recreational activities for later in the day and over a longer duration of time is high. On the weekend, Social activity scheduling is not affected by travel time requirements, but longer travel time requirements typically lead to longer-duration social activities.

DEVELOPING THE LSM VPR SCHEDULING METHOD FOR SCHEDULING HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS BASED ON EFFECTIVE FACTORS ON EMBANKMENT ACTIVITY PRODUCTIVITY

Highway construction projects are one of the most important construction projects in the world. Therefore predicting the time of these kinds of projects is important. Basically highway projects are including few activities which are repeating along the horizontal direction. One of the best methods for scheduling these types of projects is linear scheduling method. The repetitive nature of the h...

Solving a bi-objective manpower scheduling problem considering the utility of objective functions

This paper presents a novel bi-objective manpower scheduling problem that minimizes the penalty resulted from employees’ assignment at lower skill levels than their real skill and maximizes employees’ utility for working at a special skill level in some shifts or on some days. Employees are classified in two specialist groups and three skill levels in each specialization. In addition, the prese...

A multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with time lags and fuzzy activity durations

The resource-constrained project scheduling problem is to find a schedule that minimizes the project duration subject to precedence relations and resource constraints. To further account for economic aspects of the project, one may add an objective of cash nature to the problem. In addition, dynamic nature and variations in real world are known to introduce uncertainties into data. Therefore, t...

Pedestrian route-choice and activity scheduling theory and models

Among the most interesting and challenging theoretical and practical problems in describing pedestrians behavior are route choice and activity scheduling. Compared to other modes of transport, a characteristic feature of pedestrian route choice is that routes are continuous trajectories in time and space: since a pedestrian chooses a route from an infinite set of alternatives, dedicated theorie...
